Title: SAS Manager
Reports to : Head of SAS Programming
Purpose:
The Line Manager in Statistical Programming & Analysis (SPA) has management responsibilities for all projects within one therapeutic area or across several therapeutic areas at one global site of company to support clinical development and/or post marketing projects.
Job Description:
• Oversee the successful completion of all assigned projects by ensuring proper resource allocation and monitoring project progress against goals and timelines.
• Seeks feedback from customers and/or stakeholders to ensure work is meeting others’ needs
• Ensure an understanding of company and department strategies within respective group.
• Ensure key information is shared at the appropriate time.
• Develop direct reports:
o Adapt coaching style to meet the unique needs of the individual or situation
o Ensure staff are appropriately trained
o Set specific and measurable goals that are challenging but achievable
o Provide feedback and evaluation
o Reward and recognize staff who take initiative beyond expectations to advance business goals
o Identify and mentor potential successors
• Participate in recruiting, interviewing and hiring individual contributors
• Ensure decision-making authority is consistently delegated to the person with the most appropriate skill level.
• Describe clear roles and responsibilities for each team member.
• Build partnerships within Clinical Development that support all aspects of the development process
• Identify opportunities for process improvement - new processes and enhancements to existing processes
Job Qualifications:
• MS or PH.D., preferably in one of the Life Sciences or Statistics.
• Around 5 years in the pharmaceutical industry working in statistical programming. Our company experience highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to organize and manage budgets.
• Knowledge of GCP, FDA regulations, guidelines and their application to SPA functions.
• Advanced use and understanding of SAS and SAS products.
• Prior management experience (manager, supervisor, team lead, project management) is highly desired.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, influence and lead both with and without authority. Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills required.
